Xbox Update Bonanza

Microsoft has released updates for most of its Xbox products over the past few days bringing some much requested and significant features to users.

Over the past few days Microsoft has released a number of Xbox related updates both for the console and its related apps, some of which are very significant.

Xbox Music
A welcome return for a proper Live Tile

The much requested feature of having the currently playing artist info display on the #XboxMusic Live Tile on #WindowsPhone has finally returned to the app. The was a feature of the app before changes were made in Widows Phone 8.1 and it has been requested ever since.

Also included as part of the update is a more reliable displaying of artist and album pictures throughout the app alongside the customary bug fixes. Both additions are very welcome, it's just a shame that we have had to wait so long.

This update is part of a series of regular updates to the Xbox Music Windows Phone app that Microsoft has been carrying out since the previously mentioned changes were made. I look forward to the next update and the continually improving app. Microsoft is using UserVoice to identify what features and issues to prioritise -

Xbox Video

This is a couple of smaller updates than that of Xbox Music, on Windows Phone the update brings the ability to sort personal lists and some general bug fixes. On #Windows the #XboxVideo update brings better video descriptions and clearer communications when the app is copying videos.

Xbox One
This update brings with it broad range of new and updated features

This might be the biggest update to the #XboxOne since its release and it has arrived surprisingly quickly since it was only a month ago that Microsoft made the beta of the update available. This update brings with it broad range of new and updated features, with one of the most significant being a new Media Player app that currently supports a range of formats and by the end of the year will also support DLNA and playing media from USBs.

Another significant new feature is the ability to watch and control live TV through the updated SmartGlass app, something I fin very interesting new feature. Microsoft has also updated the Party App offering more controls to the party leader.

This really is a stunning set of updates from the Xbox team. I wonder what they have planned for the holiday season, I expect they have a few new headline features to add to the products.
