Microsoft brings number of improvements to OneDrive for Business web client

In a blog post yesterday #Microsoft announced a number of small new features for the #OneDriveforBusiness web client. The additions will be arriving over the coming weeks.

A new right click menu

Microsoft is improving the controls available to business users by bringing a new right-click menu to the client. Users will be able to access controls quickly, such as editing, moving, renaming and sharing files. There will even be an advanced set of options to access less often used features such as versioning.

Searching improvements

#OneDrive for Business will soon have a much smarter search which will return all files matching the search term, both a user's files and ones that have been shared with them.

Recent files

The Recent Files view is being updated with documents now shown as cards, matching the UI of Office Delve. These recent files are pulled from a user's OneDrive, files shared with the user and ones that they might be working on with their team. It will even be possible to quickly access Delve from this refined UI.

Sharing a new folder

Perhaps the smallest change is the ability for users to invite colleagues to a new folder as it is created rather than having to edit it after. I know I would find this minor addition very useful if I was regularly sharing folders in OneDrive for Business.

All these improvements might seem small but should have a large impact on using OneDrive for Business in a web browser. As ever, it is great to see Microsoft continually improve their services.
