This week has proven to fairly momentous for #Microsoft after the company finally started rolling out #Windows10 Mobile, offered new Insider builds for both PC and mobiles offering #Edge Extensions and #Twitter even released their new Mobile app.

All these new updates and releases are great and are some of the most requested and asked about things for Microsoft. I don’t know when a day last went ...

Before #Windows10 was released #Microsoft stated that it had big ambitions for the OS with a plan to reach over 1 billion installs within 2 to 3 years of its release. Since it's launch on July 29th 2015 Microsoft has updated us a few times on the progress of the OS with the most recent figure putting the OS at 20% of the 1 billion goal in only 15% of the time.

I have previously shared via Twitt...

Over the past few weeks I have added a number of minor improvements to the Guidelines Dev app I announced last month. Today though I have pushed a bigger update that uses the accent colour of your #Windows10 device as the primary colour throughout the app. You can still change this if you like though.

You should be able to see the latest change by just opening up the app if you have it installe...

January 21st

#Microsoft held its big #Windows10 event unveiling many features, that it will work on PCs, laptops, tablets, phones, IoT devices and the #Xbox One, plus the all-important fact that for the first year it would be a free update for Windows 7 and 8.1 users.

The company showed off the new #Continuum features, improved design of the OS and how Cortana would be integrated into the OS. T...

As many of you know I like making things, whether that be wallpapers, card games or websites. My biggest project to date has been http://kickerbacker.com and as part of that I created a #Windows10 app as a Hosted Web App. Granted, it's not necessarily the best way to create an app but you know what it is very quick and very easy even though it's not native.

However, it got me thinking. If peopl...

I’ve been trialling the #Lumia950 for just over a week now so I thought it would be a good time to share with you my thoughts of the new Windows flagship phone. In short it is great. Read on for find out more details about it.

Windows 10

I have used #Windows10 Mobile on a few devices over the past few months so it’s new features, functionality and improved design don’t feel new to me. But, what...

Just over a week ago I finally upgraded my #Lumia 1020 to the #Windows10 Mobile as the latest build, 10572, looked stable enough to use as a daily driver. I have already been using the OS on a Lumia but was excited to make use of the new refinements and features of the OS and apps on a daily basis and was especially looking forward to checking out my Kickerbacker app out on the device. However, th...

With all the excitement around tomorrow's big #Microsoft event I thought I would put together another drinking game full of the phrases that are both likely and unlikely.

Hopefully we'll all make it through ok! You can find the drinking game on OneDrive - http://1drv.ms/1QURmeD

I will be live tweeting (and maybe drinking) the event tomorrow via @MichaelGillett and will most likely be providi...

As some of my Twitter followers might know I recently passed my Lumia 640XL running #Windows10 on to my girlfriend as her Lumia 1020 decided it no longer wanted to boot. Whilst it was sad to let the device go it has given me an interesting opportunity; I can find out what someone thinks of the OS who hasn’t seen it evolve over the past several months. This Pip is just her initial reactions and I w...

This evening I was invited to the first public screening of #Microsoft Design’s newest short film, Inclusive. It was a captivating exploration of designing something for an individual; finding out what really matters to them and creating something that really meets their needs in such a way the technology disappears.

I won’t spoil it for you, it really is worth a watch, but I will say that it cov...

Apple’s event only had 1 real surprise, an endorsement from the company that Microsoft’s software, hardware and productivity strategies are working. In the months and weeks leading up to the event much of what #Apple announced had already been leaked so the new #iPadPro, incremental update to the #iPhone and reinvention of the Apple TV were expected. What I, and many others, didn’t expect was just...

I've been wanting to try out the #Windows10 Mobile Preview since it was first available, however I didn't want to try out the unstable OS on my daily driver, the #Lumia 1020. That all changed yesterday when I picked up a new Lumia 640 XL and immediately opted it into the Windows Preview and now I am sitting here with a Windows 10 phone next to me.

I was expecting a slow, frustrating experience ...
